The end of the TSA
Here at Synergy, we work with several Housing Associations, and therefore make sure we’re up to date with the latest news on the Tenant Services Authority (TSA).
Yesterday the Government announced which 192 quangos are to be axed to cut costs. Amongst the 192 that are to be abolished is the TSA, and the role of regulating social housing providers will be now be taken over by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
This decision was made following a review of the TSA commissioned by housing minister Grant Shapps.
Residents were found to be frustrated with the current process and the aim of the merger is to give them more control. According to Shapps “I’m putting tenants in the driving seat so they can scrutinise the services offered by their landlords and hold them to account.”
Whether the merger will have the desired affect remains to be seen. Watch this space!
