RNIB product launch - the world's first talking Freeview set top box
Client snapshot
RNIB works to end the isolation faced by blind and partially sighted people in the UK.
The brief
Smart Talk is the world’s first talking Freeview set top box. We worked in collaboration with the RNIB and Goodmans to launch the product to the mainstream UK market.
How we tackled it
First we carried out independent research and created the Smart Talk brand; then planned and delivered an integrated launch campaign. The national press was invited to the London product launch with a talking direct mail communication - the talking chip technology sparked immediate interest, as well as being on-brand. A national consumer PR and advertising campaign (on and offline) followed.
The outcome
The product appeared in 28 national publications, including the Radio Times and The Daily Star. It also won the Which? Best Buy accreditation. Smart Talk is now sold through major high street and online retailers, including John Lewis, Currys and Amazon.
We created a video using ‘son and mum’ actors to demonstrate Smart Talk. This is now live on the Smart Talk microsite we created.
Feedback was fantastic and we achieved significant media coverage.
